- St. Nicholas Parish Church was built in 1420.
- St. John’s United Free Church was founded in 1750.

- St. David’s R. C. Church was built in 1854.
- St. John’s & King’s Park Church was built in 1870 for the United Presbyterians and resulted in the closure of the Relief Church.
- The Buccleuch Street Church was built in 1878 for United Presbyterians.
- United Free Church was formed by members who broke away from the Scottish Church.
