1871 Census
The date of the 1871 census was the night of 2 April 1871. A schedule was delivered to every household in advance. The completed schedules were collected the following day, and copied into an enumerator's book. The books and schedules were then sent to the local registrar who in turn checked them and sent them to the Census Office (the original schedules were destroyed.)

ADDRESS: Road, street, etc. and number or name of house; also whether Houses were inhabited or uninhabited.
HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS: Forename, Surname of each person that had spent the night in that household
RELATION TO HEAD OF FAMILY
CONDITION: Married, unmarried, widow or widower
AGE/GENDER
OCCUPATION: Rank, profession or occupation
WHERE BORN
WHETHER DEAF AND DUMB, BLIND, IMBECILE OR IDIOT, LUNATIC
NUMBER OF CHILDREN AGED 5-13 ATTENDING SCHOOL OR BEING EDUCATED AT HOME
THE NUMBER OF ROOMS IN THE HOUSE WITH ONE OR MORE WINDOWS.
