1851 Census
The gathering of Scottish census information in 1851 under the Home Office’s jurisdiction was organised in Scotland by the sheriffs and chief magistrates and collected largely by schoolteachers in the various parishes.
Census schedules were distributed to every household before census night, and the completed schedules were collected the following day. Details were copied into an enumerator's book (the original schedules were destroyed.)
The census was taken on 30 March 1851 and supplied more detailed information compared to the census of 1841:

HOUSEHOLD SCHEDULE NUMBER: Households were given a schedule number, making it easier to determine the extent of each household.
ADDRESS: Name of street, place, or road, and name or number of house
HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS: Name of each person (Forename(s), Surname) that had spent the night in that household
RELATIONSHIPS: Relation to head of family
CONDITION Whether single, married, unmarried, widow or widower
AGE/ GENDER: The given age of each person was recorded, instead of adult ages being rounded down to the nearest 5 years.
OCCUPATION: Rank, profession or occupation

WHETHER BLIND, OR DEAF AND DUMB
